šÆ Why Some Prosper and Others Struggle - Truth Revealed
Prosperity isnāt luckāitās a result of wisdom and diligence. But laziness? It leads to loss. Discover what Proverbs says about securing your future.
š Live with Wisdom or Settle for Foolishness: The Choice Is Yours
š Two people participate in the same church gathering. One walks away with divine strategy, the other remains stuck in confusion. Two believers start a businessāone flourishes, the other flounders. Whatās the difference?
Wisdom.
Proverbs makes it clearāwisdom produces increase, while laziness produces lack. The wise build, protect, and prosper. The sluggard delays, avoids, and loses. Both lifestyles bear fruit, but only one leads to blessing.
But wisdom isnāt free. It must be pursued, valued, and obtained at a cost.
"Buy truth, and do not sell it; buy wisdom, instruction, and understanding." (Proverbs 23:23, ESV)
Wisdom requires investmentāof time, effort, and humility. Those who seek it reap favor and protection, while those who neglect it suffer lack and regret.
Today, weāre diving into how wisdom is obtained, the rewards it brings, and the devastating reality of choosing a sluggardās path.
Letās get into itā¦ š
1ļøā£ How Wisdom Is Obtained
Wisdom isnāt stumbled uponāit must be pursued like treasure.
"Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold." (Proverbs 3:13-14, ESV)
The key word here is findsāwisdom must be actively sought. Those who cry out for wisdom position themselves for favor and divine strategy.
Where is wisdom found?
š¹ The Fear of the Lord ā "The fear of the Lord is instruction in wisdom, and humility comes before honor." (Proverbs 15:33, ESV)
š¹ Godās Word ā "For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding." (Proverbs 2:6, ESV)
š¹ Wise Counsel ā "Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety." (Proverbs 11:14, ESV)
Wisdom is found in pursuit of God, in His Word, and in seeking counsel from those who walk in righteousness.
But it comes at a priceāit must be "bought" through diligence, humility, and obedience.
2ļøā£ The Fruit of Wisdom
A life lived in wisdom produces tangible rewardsāboth spiritual and practical.
š¹ Wealth & Provision ā "Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine." (Proverbs 3:9-10, ESV)
š¹ Protection & Security ā "Discretion will watch over you, understanding will guard you, delivering you from the way of evil." (Proverbs 2:11-12, ESV)
š¹ Long Life & Peace ā "For by me your days will be multiplied, and years will be added to your life." (Proverbs 9:11, ESV)
A life of wisdom is not a life of striving, but of diligence, faithfulness, and the favor of God.
3ļøā£ The Sluggard: The Opposite of Wisdom
While wisdom leads to life, the sluggardāthe one who avoids responsibility and effortāexperiences the opposite.
"The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied." (Proverbs 13:4, ESV)
The sluggard wants but never obtains. He desires increase without investment, reward without effort.
The Bible paints a vivid picture of his condition:
ā Always making excuses ā "The sluggard says, āThere is a lion in the road! There is a lion in the streets!ā" (Proverbs 26:13, ESV)
ā Too lazy to finish what he starts ā "The sluggard buries his hand in the dish; it wears him out to bring it back to his mouth." (Proverbs 26:15, ESV)
ā Full of pride, yet unteachable ā "The sluggard is wiser in his own eyes than seven men who can answer sensibly." (Proverbs 26:16, ESV)
He craves the fruit of wisdom but refuses to pay the price of diligence.
4ļøā£ Wisdom and the Sluggard Both Produce Fruit
Hereās the truth: both wisdom and laziness bear fruitābut only one leads to blessing.
š Wisdom produces:
Protection, prosperity, and favor
Strong relationships and divine opportunities
A life aligned with the will of God
š The sluggard produces:
Lack, frustration, and constant need
Broken relationships and missed opportunities
A life of regret and wasted potential
"A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and want like an armed man." (Proverbs 6:10-11, ESV)
Wisdom demands pursuit, but its rewards are worth far more than gold.
Final Challenge: Choose the Path of Wisdom
Wisdom isnāt a personality traitāitās a decision. Itās the daily choice to seek, obey, and apply Godās truth.
If youāve been feeling stagnant, ask yourself:
š Am I pursuing wisdom, or settling for comfort?
š Have I become passive when I should be diligent?
š What practical step can I take today to align with Godās wisdom?
You donāt have to stay where you are. The pursuit of wisdom leads to accelerationāin your faith, your calling, and your Kingdom assignment.
